Borough of Ambler Offices
D’Huy Engineering, Inc. (DEI) was retained by the Borough of Ambler to manage the design, bidding and construction phases of the relocation of the Borough offices and Police Station to the former Mattison Avenue Elementary School, which the Borough purchased from the Wissahickon School District.
Since the building is positioned on a small lot within the Borough, the site staging plan that DEI prepared helped to eliminate any impacts to the surrounding neighborhood. This site staging plan was critical to the success of the project.
This publicly bid, multi-prime contract project received bids in September of 2014. Construction took place from October 2014 through June 2015. The former Elementary School was a two story, 28,000 square foot building. A small elevator addition was built to provide ADA access to the second floor of the building. A portion of the first floor was completely renovated for a state-of-the-art police station. The police station includes offices, an interrogation room, cells, and ammunition storage. In addition, a separate Sally port and parking area was provided for the police station.
