D’Huy Engineering provided construction oversight services to the Easton Area Joint Sewer Authority during the refurbishment of two of its anaerobic digesters. The project generally consisted of the removal and replacement of the existing digester gas piping in the Heat Exchanger Building, the removal and replacement of the digester gas piping in the basement of the Digester Building, the removal and replacement of the digester gas piping on the roof of Anaerobic Digester 2, and the digester gas piping on the roof and slip pipe fitting in Anaerobic Digester 3. The work also included a new digester gas feed line between the Digester Building and the Boiler Building, the removal and replacement of the existing digester gas blower and related controls, modifications to the digester gas piping that feeds the boilers, replacement of the existing waste gas burner on the Digester Building roof, and the replacement of the pressure vacuum relief valves with flame arrester assemblies on the covers of Anaerobic Digesters 1, 2 and 3. Work also consisted of the replacement of designated valves in the Digester Building that are associated with Digester 3, and modifications to the existing ventilation system of the Digester Building. The project was completed using separate general, electrical, and sludge cleaning and hauling contracts coordinated in the field by D’Huy Engineering.
