D’Huy Engineering, Inc. has conducted investigations on a variety of building facades, including brick and block masonry, concrete, tile and stone, stucco systems, exterior insulation and finish systems (both field applied and panelized systems) and window wall systems. Our typical scope of services for these investigations include performing field surveys to document details of construction, assessing component deterioration, documenting and evaluating existing building envelope conditions, assessing building structure systems and facade components, material testing and providing recommendations and designs for implementing retrofit solutions.

DEI is also experienced in evaluating facilities subject to water intrusion. Such investigations often require performing water testing to determine moisture sources and intrusion pathways. Upon determining the cause of water intrusion and associated deterioration, DEI develops appropriate retrofit solutions as necessary to restore the integrity of the building’s facade. In addition, with the recent awareness of the detrimental effects of mold in building structures, DEI has become involved in a number of cases involving both water intrusion and microbiological contamination. On such projects, we work with air quality and mold remediation experts to assess and resolve water intrusion problems.
