Our Staff Development

Everyone at DEI shares a commitment to ongoing career development and professional education. Our staff of nearly 50 employees includes senior project managers, professional engineers, professional architects, certified construction managers, certified professional estimators, LEED APs, amongst many others. The breadth of our team’s experience is united by our collaborative commitment to delivering successful projects in each market we serve. We provide opportunities for our staff to continue enhancing their expertise and add value to our clients’ projects.

Our internal mantra is “exceptional people pursuing remarkable results.” Part of that pursuit includes continuous education, certification and professional affiliations with various industry related organizations. Some of our staff’s certifications and professional affiliations are listed below:

Professional Engineer (PE)

DEI employs licensed Professional Engineers with advanced educational degrees and decades of practical experience. Our PE’s provide superior technical expertise, engineering design, structural analyses and innovative solutions to complex projects. DEI’s Professional Engineers practice and maintain quality assurance with a high standard of ethics to solve all clients' civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing needs. Our Professional Engineers also have specialized skills which qualify them to oversee design services and supervise construction for our clients and business partners.

Licensed Architect (AIA)

DEI retains in-house Registered Architects to plan, design, document and oversee a client’s project from the pre-design phase through construction administration. DEI’s professional architects apply their relevant knowledge, creativity and technical experience to provide living, working and recreational environments for our clients. Our professional architects produce detailed drawings using technology such as CAD to test the feasibility of the design based on the Owner’s requirements and the interest of the community. Our architects bring together the creative ideas and visions of the client while keeping in mind the needs of those that will be using the new space.

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP)

DEI employs staff members who are LEED Accredited Professionals. They implement innovative green building design strategies, recommend energy efficient systems and incorporate sustainability practices into the design, maintenance and operations of a building. Our LEED expertise and in-depth knowledge of the LEED rating system has provided us with the opportunity to complete many successful LEED certified buildings.

Certified Professional Estimator (CPE)

DEI’s Certified Professional Estimators are experts who have achieved a high level of proficiency in construction estimating through experience and by passing comprehensive examinations. Our Certified Professional Estimators provide clients with an accurate budget estimate to complete the project that meets their expectations for quality, cost, and on-time completion. Our Certified Professional Estimators are dedicated to the highest standards and ethics in the practice of construction estimating.

Certified Construction Manager (CCM)

DEI’s Certified Construction Managers have the knowledge, skills and experience to effectively oversee, manage and lead successful construction projects. Our Construction Managers apply their strong management knowledge to all phases of a project from inception to completion for the purpose of reducing risk, and controlling time, cost, and quality. Certified Construction Management is the “gold standard” in personnel credentials for the Construction Management profession because this certification ensures the individual possesses the knowledge required to effectively manage all aspects of the project.

Certified Energy Manager (CEM)

In conjunction with DEI’s partnership with ENERGY STAR®, DEI’s Certified Energy Managers provide energy management services to our clients by identifying and recommending ways to save energy, cut costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our Certified Energy Managers have helped clients make energy efficient choices which have resulted in many DEI projects receiving the ENERGY STAR® certification. A few of our recent LEED gold certified buildings achieved a rating in excess of 95 from ENERGY STAR®, and were awarded Green Ribbon School certifications.

Certified Construction Specifier (CCS)

DEI has experienced Certified Construction Specifiers that provide excellence in technical construction specifications and contract document preparation to help protect the Owner’s interests, and reduce their risk and liability. Our Certified Construction Specifiers lend broad knowledge in the coordination and preparation of construction documents, materials, constructability, and product/system integration to investigate and identify cost-effective, efficient solutions. They then communicate those solutions through the specifications process.

Project Management Professional (PMP)

DEI’s Project Management Professionals have a significant amount of experience, education and competency to lead and direct successful projects. Our Project Management Professionals are responsible for communicating with the project team, holding all parties (team and Owner) accountable, managing all project documentation, and assisting the Owner with qualified and competitive project bids.

Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA)

DEI’s Certified Construction Contract Administrators are specialists in the assembly of construction contract documents and bidding strategies which help in minimizing a client’s risk while maximizing flexibility based on project cost. Our Certified Construction Contract Administrators focus on the details of the construction process from contract execution to final completion, including site observation, payment applications, contract modifications, submittals, substitutions, and project closeout. DEI’s Contract Administrators make certain that project bidding documents are clear, concise, complete, and correctly apportion work responsibilities of each contractor to ensure successful project completion.

Building Code Certifications

Several of DEI’s engineers hold code certifications and specialize in building codes that will assist clients with compliance of federal and local codes for existing or new structures, contractual specifications, evaluate building plans of construction sites and finished buildings, and provide advice to contractors, architects and engineers. DEI’s building code personnel provide project credibility on the code compliance aspects of the project with the inspector on the job.

Certified Document Technologist (CDT)

DEI’s Certified Document Technologists are professional experts with comprehensive knowledge of writing and managing of construction documents. Our Certified Document Technologists understand the design and construction process, and the purpose and importance of clear, correct, complete, and concise construction documents. CDT’s employ knowledge of general conditions in relation to the specifications, the various types of delivery methods available to construct a project, and the contractual relationship between all of the parties involved in the project.
